We are the last, local family-owned and operated dual-licensed butchery in Taumarunui. Located in the hills of the King Country, Ruapehu District, our small town will take you back to a simpler place in time.

Absolute Meats offers an old-fashioned style of butchery in the modern era of business. The butcher ensures all our meat is 100% sourced and homegrown here in the green pastures of New Zealand.

With a vast product range, Absolute Meats produces venison, goat, and mutton products alongside more traditional Kiwi butchery products such as lamb, beef, and pork.

Specializing in old-fashioned recipes with a hands-on approach, our local dedicated team takes pride in the quality and presentation of all our products.

Using an in-store recipe, we cure our own meat products—making corned beef, pickled pork, and bacon. Our on-site smokehouse utilizes an open-flame method with manuka woodchips to bring out that iconic Kiwi taste.

Our sausage and patty recipes are well-known for their homegrown resemblance to the days of old. Handmade, in-store, just tastes better. You won’t find any artificial flavours here—we use real ingredients, real cheese, real onion, real meat.

As the last dual licensed butchery in Taumarunui servicing the King Country, Ruapehu District we have the ability to turn your catch of the day into the meal of the evening. Our team also has the ability to carry out on farm home kill services with our fully equipped Absolute Meats trailer.

If you’re a hunter or a family looking to fill the freezer we can turn your meat into a banquet with our extensive range of old fashioned, hand crafted sausages and patties recipe. Our onsite smoke house ignites delight, using Manuka woodchips to give your meat that iconic kiwi taste with an Absolute twist and a glowing golden finish. Before entering the smoke house your bacon is hand cured with our in store made recipe and soaked to ensure a full flavor in every slice. Making all our recipes by hand, using real ingredients truly gives you that old fashioned, homemade feeling.

You can rest assured your meat is in good hands, from our easy to use forms to the care taken while processing and packaged to your requirements. Our local dedicated team takes pride in the quality and presentation of your product from start to finish ensuring everything is clearly labelled and ready to stack in your freezer.
